Exciting things on the horizon...

It has been so long since I blogged, and I do feel bad for that, but it has been quite a busy time for me.

I am finishing up my last semester in college right now, which has been keeping me really busy. One of my classes is my hardest subject, so it takes me even more time, because I really want to make sure I understand everything. Come December, I will have my degree and I will be able to focus more on my book.

As far as my book, I have been editing whenever I have any free time. I am pretty excited that come next year I will be taking my book to the next level, getting it professionally edited and then the hard part of either getting picked up and published or self-publish if needs be.

Thanksgiving is not far off, and I am excited to enjoy a wonderful meal with family and friends. If I do not happen to post before, I do hope all my fellow Americans have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

First Days...

So today was my oldest first day back to school... I cannot believe that he is in his last year of middle school... It makes me think back to the last few first days of school, and in such a short time he has become such an amazing young man, and an incredible big brother to his baby sister. While I know he has a long way to go until finishing high school and college, I have no doubts he will be able to complete all those things and more. I am just feeling really proud and so lucky to have him as my son. I couldn't have hoped to have a better one.

Wishing all the children heading off to a new school year the best of luck and hope they always follow their dreams!

And the editing continues...

My first book has been finished and now I am 1/3 through the editing phase. I am blown away that I have completed my first goal of writing a book. I really thought if I had a book of 200 pages I would be blown away, and here I ended up with 465 pages.

I have also been very lucky lately to have a couple beta readers who have given me some amazing feedback and great suggestions on editing my book. It is amazing how supportive people can be and how much it can encourage you to continue and keep doing what you love.

I hope to be keeping more updated in my blogs, but I have never been very good at knowing what to say, so if you have any questions or suggestions, I would love to hear them!

Now back to editing my first of many novels! :)

Thursday, May 14, 2015

So we have moved into our final location, and I just finished Chp 32 last night. I am pretty positive Chp 33 will be the last Chapter in my first novel for this series. I am pretty excited to actually start the editing process, as I know a lot of the things I want/need to fill in and change around.

I do want to say how appreciative I am of all the support I have received from everyone, husband, kids, family, friends, fellow authors and others. I never expected to try to do something like this and have so many people supporting me and helping encourage me. I really do wish I would have started writing earlier in life, but then again, I love where I am in my life, so perhaps that had a lot to do with me finally finding the right story in me to actually bring out. :)

Just completed Chapter 26. It is getting closer to the ending of Book One, which is pretty exciting. Then on to my edits and starting Book Two!

I have to say I am really finding my muse has been really busy at getting me going since moving up to MI! I wonder if she went on a sabbatical to MI the last few weeks I was in NM!

I am working on Chapter 22... it is going really good, I feel like my creative juices are back up after the move and getting more settled in... I hit a really big milestone in my opinion, I have over 300 pages done and over 70K words written so far in my novel!

Other news, we actually already founded a house! I cannot believe that we already found one we love, so as of right now, we should close on it the first of May... so another move, but at least this one will only be a couple miles away instead of states away! :)

Also, on a cute note, I wanted to share, my daughter the other day was playing with me on my bed, she was snuggled up in the blankets and all of the sudden she jumped up, grabbed a blanket and dragged it around the bed over to me. Now this was not a light blanket and she struggled with it for a bit, then when she got behind me, she laid the blanket (the best she could) over me and then ran back around to snuggle back on the other side. Such a little sweetheart :)

Moving from NM to MI was a lot of work, and while it is a bit chilly up here, it is great to be back in MI. I have already had a visit from my bestest friend in the whole world, we have know each other since middle school! And I have a bunch of other super awesome friends that I will hopefully be getting to see in the near future!

So to be really honest, after not being able to write for the last few weeks, I was starting to worry if when I had time to write again if I would be able to. Today I answered that fear with a Bitch Slap and wrote 1500+ words into Chapter 20! It felt so good to be writing again, and to be introducing a new character that I have been really wanting to bring into the book.

Hopefully now I will get some more time in general to do some writing, between looking for a house as well! :)

Now back to Iryvalya and figuring out what Ny will do next!!!

Working on Chapter 19. It is a very detailed chapter, so it is taking me a bit longer than normal, but that just means it should be a really good chapter too! :)

In other news, found a new way to get my sweet little girl to not take her PJ's off! I put the PJ's on backwards, and she is not yet able to figure out how to unzip it! I give it only a few days and she will figure this one out as well! She is a small little Peanut! :)

Also, I am still in shock that it is already March. Time has been flying this year, between writing, school, being a Mom and preparing to move back to Michigan. Hopefully this summer things might slow down just a little.

Map Software

I forgot to add the link to the software I am using for making the map of Iryvalya.

https://secure.profantasy.com/products/cc3.asp

It is called Campaign Catographer 3 (CC3) and it is really amazing. There are also video tutorials showing you how to do everything!

I am loving this software! :)

Map making

My amazing husband was sweet a bought me some software to make a map of Iryvalya (the world my series takes place in). It is really awesome, and while I am still learning a lot about it, so far I have made a halfway decent start into making Iryvalya as I envision it.

The software is Campaign Cartographer 3 (CC3), you can find information on it online if you do a search for it. While it isn't the cheapest software, it is definitely very detailed.

I have always enjoyed designing houses and things as such for fun, and I used to love The Sims to build different homes.  I am hoping that experience over the years will help me in making my world map! :)
